Damage to Telstra exchanges in northern and western Queensland means many people can't call Triple Zero, even from their mobile phones.


Emergency services have established a series of local numbers to call if people can't contact Triple Zero.


Cairns – 4030 7000
Mareeba – 4030 3340
Townsville – 4750 5581 and 4750 5583
Mt Isa – 4744 1111 and 4744 1808
Mackay – 4968 3530
Gladstone – 4971 3222
Rockhampton - Triple Zero (000) – via alternative carrier only

The State 000  Brisbane area is taking the 000 calls for those regions listed, so those numbers are just in case they can't get through when they call 000.
