Our leaders are always happy to send young men to defend us or in some cases do their grubby work.

When these men and women need looking after our leaders are nowhere to be seen.

It's so very sad.  Why wasn't he offered proper palliative care? ....  :_|  Rest in peace dear man.

I don't think it should have any bearing on whether or not he was a veteran, people deserve better than that....his family should have DEMANDED pain relief for him or had him moved to a proper palliative care place. .

According to what the son was saying there were quite a few 'demands' made for his father to be treated for the pain and it was ignored until finally, someone took notice.

Fairfield hospital has a palliative care unit on it's grounds, perhaps there were no empty beds at the time, but that does not preclude the poor man being given pain relief exactly where he was .. that's what palliative care is about amongst other things.

I do hope that the Australian health care system, including hospitals, do not go the way of the USA.
