R.I.P. Tom Sharpe

One of my favourite authors. He held  up a magnifying glass to the absurdities, cruelties and injustices of society, but with such biting wit that he could have you literally crying with laughter.

TGSE..........did he write Wilt....and The Wilt Alternative?

I am too lazy to goggle.

Yes, and 'Blot On the Landscape.' which was made into a TV mini series. His books had a manic quality to them, with incidents and misunderstandings piling up one after another to reach an hysterical, totally over-the-top climax.

I remember really those books ages ago...........and something about him exploding his organic toilet........all sorts of drama...........I quite enjoyed them.

A bad week for the publishing world.

I loved his take on South Africa ... he was hilarious, biting, witty, clever, and worked for a better world.
