Flashie, I get 7 results for Henry Marshall at the correct age in the 1841 census. I can rule out 4 that were born in the wrong county, but I have no way of knowing if any of the other 3 may be him.

There is only one possibility in the 1851 census, born in Louth Lincolnshire, living with his son Thomas.

Cant find any matching service records.

And he is not a convict either............I thought I was onto it yesterday.......but it turned out his fathers name was Henry........I think it is the son of the Henry you found living with his son Thomas

I have had a professional researcher look into this one..........and I came up with a different answer than her.

I was wondering what a fresh pair of eyes might see.

Some of the sites good for this search are Freereg......family search......Lincolnshire and Fenland families.

So he ended up in Australia? Do you have any more details you can email me if you dont want to put them here. I feel like I'm flying blind a bit.

I've got one for you flashie.

William Kennedy, convict arrived in Tasmania in 1850 http://foundersandsurvivors.org/pubsearch/convict/chain/ai39740

William Kennedy married to Catherine Harding in 1862  http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?detail=1&type=P&id=188083

The death notice for William Kennedy (married to Catherine Harding) staes that he was born in Tipperary, arrived in Tas in 1850 and started working for a Mr Beecroft in 1854.

1854 was the year that the convict William Kennedy was pardoned.

What do you think? Are they the same person?

Punch, is it possibly some type of iron cross medal?

Punch, is it possibly some type of iron cross medal?

I googled medals on watch chains and it seems they were often given out for sports, particulary football.

Seeing that I cant even find a decent record of the VFA/VFL/AFL premiership medals, I think I've got buckleys of finding an image from that long ago, when a lot of the districts had their own leagues. It could be from any sport in any district.....or notfrom a sport at all. I have given it up as too hard 😄

I will have a look for you after tea Punch............it will be quieter here then....they all go bowling.

My reasercher said that Henry Marshall died in Hemingby 1-11-1827 unmarried......................but I cant find that one..........and I wonder if he is more liekly to be the death in 1854.

Matilda...............that site is Lincolnshire and Fenland families..........it is a brilliant site for Lincolnshire..............but still we have been unable to sort Henry out.

Punch, before you totally give up, maybe explore the idea of a salvation Army medal as the guy on the right is in a SA uniform and it looks like another one of them has a SA badge or medal pinned on him.
