Actually, it is more because US $ is rising, aus $ is pretty much steady (over the past 30 days) against euro and BP, and slightly down if you look at the 90 days.  Yes, it was a bit of a shock when I bought few hundreds $ worth of stuff from US recently.  I am just thankful it was so good for so long  🙂  Now I am happy for exporters who have been doing it very tough while our dollar was so high, and it is a great news for tourism.

Do you remember the last member that went bonkers and started talking down the economy and told us all to hide our money under the mattress?

I think he's holed up in a bunker somewhere.

No, did that really happen

Well I don't really know if he's holed up in a bonker bunker (probably) but he was wrong and he is gone.

well the only thing I was wrong about was the time frame, I stated between 6 and 12 months and its only taken a liitle over 2 months.

I believe most stated it wasnt going to happen and our economy was great, because they were told so.

well it did happen and it isnt great as some are now finally starting to realise we have serious problems

Currency always fluctuates day to day; over the past 30 days aus $ went up and down against BP - minimum 0.5961 to max. 0.6157, with the highest point being only few days ago = 10th July.  While euro was between - 0.7199 and 0.6921, it has been going up and down pretty much between the 2 margins .  And in the past 30 days against US $ our dollar went down from 0.9603 to 0.9044 now, while US $ went also up against other currencies.  These figures are average daily trading.
