We spend more on red wine than white, at the moment I'm loving NZ semillions etc, though usually I try and and enjoy what WA has to offer (so much to enjoy)
20 years ago my quaffer of choice (budget) was cask wine, now it's in the $20 range. When I want a nice bottle f white I will spend up to $40. Reds on the other hand.........I will try anything and spend almost anything, but Penfolds Bin 28 is my quaffer.
Love going down to Margaret River and trying new wineries/wines. I never look at the price before tasting, and this has meant we have bought some cheap wine that i love and some **bleep** expensive stuff too.

I remember reading something by Len Evans years ago. He said something like (cos I can't remember the exact quote)
"I can only drink a certain number of bottles of wine before I die so if I drink a bottle of plonk, it's like smashing a bottle of Grange against the wall."
Of course, this comes from someone who can afford to drink Grange.Wish I could.
