I think the child if a girl will have the middle name Frances........after Diana.

thank goodness. She must have been getting so fed up with waiting, poor girl.

waiting? babies usually take 40 weeks and no due date was made public, was it? She may be due today.

Could be worse, didn't the officials used to have to watch the birth to make sure there were no substitutions? (and in years to come it will probably be televised world wide...)

I hope it goes well for her. 🙂

EM............that is correct...........the current Queen put a stop to that.

That recently? She is lucky then!

James Edward Stuart - son of James II and Mary of Modena, was rumoured to be  an impostor baby, smuggled into the royal birth chamber in a  warming pan, after the true child was allegedly stillborn. In an attempt to scotch this myth, James published the testimonies of over seventy witnesses to the birth. Just browsing the news you have to wonder in what way is this relevant: "Kate is being tended by a top medical team led by the Queen's former gynaecologist Marcus Setchell, who delivered the Countess of Wessex's two children.

Assisting him is Alan Farthing, the former fiance of murdered TV presenter Jill Dando and the Queen's current gynaecologist.

I think (could be wrong) that officially the Lord Chamberlain had to be present at the birth - though in more recent timesthe reality was he waited discreetly outside the door till the doctor or midwife brough the baby out to him
