They must be cheerful , colourful, and comfortable, like my Explorers:

The pink ones were a lot of (boring) white Explorers, which were very cheap, and I attempted to dye red. I failed!

Sox? I prefer toe socks (the ones that looks like gloves but for your feet!)

And I like them as colourful as possible - as most toe socks are striped I have them in big range of bright colours 

i would talk about it, but really it is over rated.
