Pretty sure Elly worked inner city Sydney, and never mentioned a husband. That made me doubt seeing as you live rural. Still.... could have retired.
Can you see what you are doing to me!?

i miss having chooks, they are so cute and more relaxing to watch than fish.
my kids used to bring their favorite inside and feed it cocopops and have it sit on their knee to watch tv.

Put your feathered little man in a low box for the night so he can't raise his head to crow and problem should be solved..
congrats on the first egg!!!

Hi you two chooken lovers!
This is something I heard, so have no idea if it's true or not.
If you have the rooster somewhere that has a very low roof above his head, he doesn't crow as much. Apparently they stretch up with their neck/head to crow and if there is a roof, they can't.
worth a try:-D
It's not true. I thought it was too, until I joined a chook forum. One guy there put his monster rooster in a small cat carrier at night and he still crows.

couldn't they lay on their back if they were desperate to crow.

Was thinking about a chook forum panda. My little guy's too young to crow atm, but concerned about how close he is to the house
