The rule says discussion boards, not threads.

Wouldn't it be up to individual posters who get that sort of mail to individually query it with the moderators?

Am, I've seen you warn a number of people that they are posting off topic in a thread.  Maybe you should try clarifying whether it is an offence or not.  I think that they would like to know how we really feel about having an off topic rule in an anything goes chatboard.

Az. I' ll write and ask for clarification on it later today too

It would also appear that a lot of reporting could be being done by lurkers......so, maybe another avenue is to ask if only participants in a thread can report posts?

What makes you think that it appears that way ?

Something along the lines of:

Dear Moderators,

a number of threads are being decimated of late by the removal of posts for going off topic.
This is contrary to the best interests of the majority who welcome different perspectives and lateral viewpoints, the actual purpose of a discussion.
Especially as it appears from discussions between thread participants that it is non participating persons who are doing most of the off-topic reporting.

I would like to propose that only persons who have contributed to a thread be allowed to report posts as off-topic.

Thanks in advance, Donna

yes.... and no one can talk about it 🙂

It's always been a possibility hasn't it ? When someone says something 'appears' to be happening  that usely means that there is something that shows that to be the case ?

In my experience those doing the reporting for hostile and interpersonal diputing are casuing the issues here, telling fibs.....

huh?
