Donna, I have just written to the mods, but I have gone a step further because IMO Off topic shouldn't even relate to this general chat board. If there is a disruptive post in a thread it is an IP post, not off topic post

It would also appear that a lot of reporting could be being done by lurkers......so, maybe another avenue is to ask if only participants in a thread can report posts?

No! Not me! I swear, it wasn't me!

Woman LOL Happy here as well.

no...it doesn't worry me

though WE wouldn't want to go off topic would we ?

I would like to propose that only persons who have contributed to a thread be allowed to report posts as off-topic.

That is the most strange statement/request that I have ever read here.

I would like to propose that only persons who are participating in a thread be allowed to report posts in that thread, if they are warranted

What may seem off topic to some may not to others, same with interpersonal disbutes etc 🙂

why is it strange?

its a well known fact that lurkers report posts for reasons known only to themselves.

why should an onlooker who is not willing to publicly participate in a thread have any say in how that thread progresses?

that report button has been a control tool for way too long and its time that changed.
