Rabbit Meat In Queensland

Anyone know where you can buy rabbit meat in Queensland?

We were bought up on rabbit meat (in SA) & still enjoy the occasional meal here in NSW.

Apparently the place at Kyogle which farmed and distributed rabbit meat has closed down, so anyone who knows a butcher which either sells or can order in rabbit meat would be be great.

Ta muchly.

Hi Grapes-underground mutton-good tucker..........................Richo.

I know the butcher at Aspley sells whole rabbits, and I would think that any butcher could get it for you.  It is expensive though, and I remember about 30 years ago that it was available in supermarkets and was fairly cheap.

Hi Richo,

You said it. I don't think you can even buy mutton these days. We used to buy it all the time....cooks up lovely for stews.

Mutton is not available, (why?) yet is much tastier than lamb, roasted or any other way..

Bunnybiz in Bulimba supplies butchers.

I have'nt seen mutton for yonks...well not in Woolies. Hubby reckons they growers don't want to age the animals these days...just get them out as quickly as possible.

Thanks for that people. Will check it all out.

Underground mutton is a colloquial name for rabbit meat.
