Are we talking legally or just here on CS? You can get slapped silly here for stuff that would be laughed out of court if you tried to sue the offender.
As far as CS is concerned my own opinion is that anything said to me here would have to be really personally and deliberately vicious before I would consider it hate speech. Insults don't bother me a bit (one does'nt have an elephant for an avatar if one is hypersensitive) My favourite, to date was being told (in French no less) that my mother does unspeakable things to bears in the forest.
