All The Dirt On Carbon

I found this article interesting:

Both main parties agree we need to cut greenhouse gas emissions. But which  approach is better: Labor's carbon price or the Liberals' direct action?

"Under Abbott's direct action plan, each major polluting company will get a  baseline for the amount of emissions it releases, calculated on its historical  average. If a company goes over its  baseline  it will be penalised a  yet-to-be-declared amount. But unlike a carbon price, it would not pay for  emissions at business-as-usual rates, nor are its emissions capped. If a company  puts in place a project that lowers its emissions, then – along with other  groups such as farmers – it could approach the government and sell them the  reduced carbon dioxide."

Unfortunately, I fear you are right, aztec - and it's not only Australians who are apathetic. Humans may possess higher intelligence than other species, but we are sadly deficient in the common sense and self preservation depatment.

At the risk of perpetuating a fallacy I'd say we are like colony of lemmings trottinghappily and  mindlessly towards oblivion.

Wellyou might be over it Aztec, but was a big enough concern for Ms Gillard to stumble over in her tenure as PM, and remains a vexatious problem for whoever becomes our next PM.

Global Warming, just like Global Terrorism is a mechanism for governments to extract money and to induce fear in populations so that people can be made more reliant on the government machine which feeds on the uneducated.

I know that i will be dubbed a conspiracy theorist as that is one way to ignore what is happening to people.

If you wish you can watch a mini series broadcast by the BBC which mey give you some insight.

it is in 3 parts, the link below is for episode 1

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
