I am a bit puzzled by the locking of threads and would like clarification of the reasons for it.

It used to be that threads not within the rules of CS were just removed and not seen again. Is there a point to keeping them here so they can still be read or is there another reason?

Don't know the reason, but it sure stops the bitterness of some posters who can't or won't understand simple comments, and twist them into something they are not.

I understand that interpersonal stuff happens within a thread ..does that alone make the Opening post in violation of policy? If it is why not remove it ? If an opening post isn't and it is left on the boards why not moderate individual posts as was previosly done ...and if it is against policy ....why would an opening post that violates policy be left on this site for all to see ?

Is it OK to discuss all sides of politics equally and within any and all relevant policies ?

Someone said here this morning that they were asking for a thread to be locked....maybe the new thing to do. Or maybe they are unsure of how pull a thread?

I was going to request thread removal TS...because it did look like it would go as it perhaps shouldn't on a public site .Locking a thread means it's still on a public site for which the moderation are legally responsible for ..I think ?

The mods know that as Christmas approaches, it is highly likely that someone will want to know where to get the best fruitcake from.

Can a mod please explain why lock a thread, then remove it? Is there a reason why you don't remove it and be done with it?

Failing to moderate what requires moderating on a site may be more the problem for any Moderation company employed to do that job Mr G ?
