Why oh why couldn't he have simply made a tactful, deflecting response? Regardless of his own personal views, any high level politician should have the sense to know when to keep his big mouth shut.
How could he be seen to be agreeing with a red necked crooked ex-policeman?

Can you believe that supernova?? Like they wouldn't notice huh? I can just see it now:
Stupid Number 1: "This street in Liverpool looks like it might have a few dodgy people in it."
Stupid Number 2:"OK - I'll just set up my rifle".
Stupid Number 1: Oh look!!! There about 3 shops up to the right is a woman in a burqa talking to another woman in a burqa - that looks suspicious."
Stupid Number 2: "Ready. Aim. FIRE!!."
Stupid Number 1: "Ooops. I think I hit the kid in the pram...What does it say in Abbott New World Order booklet about hitting the wrong target?"
Stupid Number 2: "Umm. It's OK. It says here if he is a muslim, then he is simply a smaller suspect."
Stupid Number 1: "Great. Lets just head to Liverpool Public School and do all the kiddies in one go..."

Why is it a bad thing if someone admits to something being confronting???
I find The Burqa very confronting and personally think they should be discouraged.
I also find some people in full club attire very confronting.... I know that the ones I use to hang out with were always fully armed with loaded and cocked weapons.
