well, that makes it even worse because I cant remember your comments on this thread either.

I will do some work on my comprehension skills while also reviewing eBay's off topic policy  Smiley LOL

I have only seen people wearing a full burqa - ie the garment covering the eyes as well with only mesh for vision, a few times. The first was at an airport in the early 2000s and I did feel confronted/scared, possibly because there was a sense of high alert at airports generally at that time. I wonder if it is conditioning as well though? All the burqas I have seen happened to be black which denotes the bad guy in much popular culture. Would Darth Vadar have had the same effect in lime green with pink accents?

Looking up wikipedia just to clarify what a burqa was, I noted that they are also worn in colours and white with embroidery, quite a decorative garment which to me doesn't seem as threatening. I don't think feeling uncomfortable around muslims clad in a burqua is a racist response although I am sure that those who see themselves as more enlightened will assure me that it is.

edit - removed u from first burqa before the spelling police needed to point it out.

The full burqa's I have seen (not a lot really in my area) have all been dark colours but not always black, the last one was dark khaki colour.

What I don't understand is how anyone wear any clothing like that (covering all the body top to toe) outside in the summer heat? I am sure I would faint in one of those.

Im hoping this will be seen to be on topic...Im just wondering how a politician - perhaps soon to be the Prime Minister of Australia, could voice such an opinion?

The whole 'argument' is about not being able to see someone's face.  How can you say there is not much difference in that respect LOL

Agree.

You only need to look at the history of the burqa to understand why it's enforced and latter taught. You cannot justified the burqa based on the Koran. If you want to argue for human liberty to wear whatever you want. Explained to me anywhere in human evolution and human value where it's natural for humans to relate to each other with their face covered.

Maybe if TA donned a Burqa whilst spouting rampant election campaign promises he would appear more believable ?

Not sure about that, his words could still be heard...

.....this sight would scare off ocean borne asylums seekers and certainly Stop the 'boawts'!!!

especially if he was then asked to remove the offending outer attire and onlookers were then subjected to a most confronting sight - budgie smugglers:)
