Well, I think the effects of alcohol are worse, and it should be made illegal, will never happen though.

I think it is a laugh that it is ok for people to alter their state of mind thru the drug called alcohol, yet those same people look down their noses at "druggies."

there is no doubt alcohol causes problems, but you are right, it wont be made illegal.

So, why make another problem drug legal?

How is that helping anything?

I can't see the sense in making alcohol illegal, and it could be argued it wouldn't make any difference if it was, it's not hard to make at home, and that's where it would be generated from under those conditions.

One small part of the answer is self control.

The evidence of a cross-sectional association between cannabis use and psychosis is not

enough to be able to conclude that cannabis causes psychosis. First of all, evidence of

association does not provide information about the temporal relationship of the cannabis-

likely that people go on to use cannabis

Thus far, there is little indication of increases in the incidence of mental health problems

This may reflect the fact that only frequent, heavy cannabis use has been strongly linked to such problems.

The prevalence of at least yearly cannabis use in Australia has been stable for the past twenty years with minimal changes in the incidence of mental health problems.

Similarly, the considerable increase of cannabis use in the previous thirty years was not accompanied by a

corresponding increase in mental illness.

As with other drugs like alcohol, most cannabis users do not seem to experience serious or enduring problems from the drug.

That a small proportion of users do progress to problem use is clear, but the reasons for this, and therefore the ability to identify such persons and minimise the harm they suffer, is not apparent. How to acquire that ability is the

present challenge.

11.2 Increasing community awareness of the link between

cannabis and mental health

Cannabis is but one factor among many that appears to affect the development of mental

illnesses. For a small minority of people, it may be a dominant factor, and this is perhaps the

most crucial aspect of the message to be imparted to the public. Mental health professionals

are extremely limited in their ability to identify these susceptible individuals, and the

individuals themselves currently appear to have no greater success. Providing the best

information about the pathological interactions between cannabis and psychological states

may allow individuals to better assess their own risk profile. F

relying upon cannabis to manage negative mood is highly predictive of dependence and

the emergence of serious mental illness. Therefore, warnings about not using cannabis to

manage stress become important.

That's a really good post colic2bullsgirlore; it reinforces the whole picture of individual reaction, and that in itself recognises that any addictive substance can't be seen to have the same effect on every person, addict or otherwise.

do you understand they are a different variety of plant, while from the same family the hemp plant is not the same as the canna plant

The cost of enforcing the law of cannabis prohibition is not justifiable. The money would be better spent helping people with drug problem by redirecting the money to health system. We need to acknowledge that drug addiction is an illness and provide medical care instead of charging people, and in some cases jailing them. That would also reduce the costs to community by reduction in crime that is perpetrated for financing drug habits.
