"

The Liberals' Lucy Wicks has gained a three-and-a-half percent swing in the seat, which was one of the most marginal in the country.

Ms Wicks says she has spoken to her ALP opponent.

"I did receive a phone call from Deb O'Neill earlier today wishing me well and I wished her well as well," she said.

"I guess the focus is now just to wait until the result is made official by the AEC.

"I am certainly very hopeful and look forward to being part of a strong Coalition government."

Ms O'Neill has not ruled a return to politics in the future, saying she has been honoured to represent her community for the past three years.

She has taken a parting swipe at media tycoon, John Singleton and his backing of two high profile independents who made up Team Central Coast.

Former Australian cricketer Nathan Bracken contested Dobell, while Mariners executive and Gosford Mayor Lawrie McKinna took on Ms O'Neill in Robertson.

They announced they would direct their preferences to the Liberals 48 hours before polling day.

Deborah O'Neill says Mr Singleton's funding sealed her fate.

"The reality is Mr Singleton through his financing of Mr McKinna's campaign has essentially bought this seat for the Liberal party, "

she said.

"And I think that that's something that people need to be mindful of."

The best thing that happened this election was the possibility that we might get rid of that idiotic woman. Fingers crossed!
