Interesting comments in adding acetone.....even in minute amounts.

One of the ingredients in nail polish remover (and also used as a paint thinner) is acetone.

If you are talking about the milder solvent ethyl acetate you are introducing ethyl into your engine.

Incidentally I use the acetone free nail varnish remover because of the corrosion and splitting aceton can cause to nails.

No way I would use either of these chemicals in my car......different strokes for different folks I guess.
