  i'm not sure what jethro thinks, but i think it should look like men and women, not just men.

 portfolio ? unimportant really. they supply the ideology and public servants do the actual work as always.

You will find that many of the countries which have more women in cabinet in Australia have less men per capita to fill the positions. Reasons being that many of those counties have high expectations that their male population will become involved in their military. You cannot compare countries of such diversity without looking at their cultural structure and economic framework.

 The other Australian political parties seem to manage OK . that is a lame excuse.

Can you imagine Angela Merkel being subjected to such a mysogynist and disgraceful treatment by male politicians as Julia Gillard was?

 

I can't, and the reason why German male politicians did not behave like that is probably because they would be too embarassed to look like they didn't learn a thing since the middle ages.

 

It makes Australia look VERY backwards and i would be embarassed for my country if i was australian.

It's obvious he only has women for decoration and "sex appeal". The only other explanation is he has chosen stipid women, and that's quite possible because I can't imagine any empowered, intelligent woman wanting to serve In that party.

Pitiful that he said he regretted not having more women...ahh, isn't it tony who made the decisions?

Is there some of sort of rule as to the gender mix any Prime Minister is required to have in his/her cabinet?
