Suffering is suffering, No matter how you justify it. Suffering is relative to your previous experiences.

The point maybe crikey, to start with anyway , to ban the hens that suffer the most.. the caged hens. Free range hens, even 10 000 to a hectare has to be better than that. Plus the cage hens egss are not good quality. Hens are by nature meant to roam around outside most of the day in the fresh air.

Often there are no, or only a few free range (and organic) eggs left in the supermarkets I go to. There are plenty of caged hen eggs left.

Supermarkets would be mad not to meet the demand for free range eggs from its customers. Animal activist groups started the push to ban caged hens, not the supermarkets.

Yes.. debeaking and mincing etc 1 day old male chicks because they only want laying chickens.

There was an article on the Woolies decision in todays's West Australian, and I was delighted to discover that the farm producing the eggs I buy runs less than 1500 birds to the hectare. I pay $4.95 a dozen a which I reckon is top value for money. You couldn't even buy a  kilo of sausages or hamburger mince for that price.

That is top value, she ele. I pay about $4.40 for 1/2 dozen free range organic eggs (WW select brand). 1500 hens/hectare is excellent as well.
