Considering Telstra claimed 10 years agot that the copper was nearing the end of it's life cycle and would need to be replaced by a fibre network inside 15years chances are it will not serve the needs of most households and businesses in the future.

Do you happen to have the current level of the NBN FTTH uptake?
You might like to include the uptake at each tier level

he had the vision to know it might stop raining for a decade or so (as before) rather than think 'its raining this year so all is well' thanks for demonstrating my point so clearly

@poddster wrote:The problem is that under the NBN Co. scheme it is not just user pays but non user as well.
No, it isn't. Users pay as they use. NBN Co is a company like Aus Post, we pay as we use, although if Mal stuffs it up the rest of you might end up paying dearly. If the network is built as planned the costs will be recouped by the govt owned company with an expected ROI of 7% in approx 20 years.

Just about anyone can predict "might"
"'Might " is not being a visionary and at the time there was no "Might" about it.
Pretty expensive "might" huh ?
Is the FTTH NBN in the same category? People "might" use it, was the reason to make it a monopoly so people would have no choice but to use it
