sued for neglegent behavior....

I bet there will be one very nervous person after today's story in the paper....

There was a fire in a Sydney  carpark a couple of days ago  that took out 46 cars many of which are uninsured .Investigators believe it was started by some moron discarding a cigarette into long grass on what was a very hot day with winds. Now lawyers have said that  if the person is caught ,CCTV is being examined, the owners of the uninsured cars could sue.

Hopefully it will make people more aware if they can be held liable for idiot actions

While agreeing that the ciggy thrower(if that was indeed the case) was indeed moronic those who drive uninsured vehicles on public roads would no doubt also be nervous-as would other law-abiding road users........hmmm.

Double post

Drivers in NSW would have/should have CompulosryThirdParty insurance (required before getting rego). That would cover them for liablity if they have accidents on the road.

If they hadn't insured their car with a comprehensive insurance policy, their car would be worthless.

Some people don't have comprehensive insurance and opt to insure the other car, or just fire and theft. TPPD insurance should be compulsory.IMO

it only covers injury to others, not the driver and not the car.

CTP is all that is required by law though?

yes, it is but that does not assist someone if another driver is at fault and damages the other person's car does it?

I don't know. I have CTP & comprehensive car insurance so is me covered.

so that is me covered.
