Those photos remind me of the NSW bushfires in Dec 2001. The sun looked like a dull red traffic light trying to shine through a hazy smokey sky.
We do need rain and less hot dry gusty winds.

A couple of hours ago we had a downpour here in Coffs Harbour. Lasted about 10 minutes now it has gone. Hope it is on its way to the areas which need it.

Yes! I remember talking to my cousin overseas who telling me she saw it on the news over there....I described how it looked from where I was, how my patio was covered in ash.
