Those photos remind me of the NSW bushfires in Dec 2001. The sun looked like a dull red traffic light trying to shine through a hazy smokey sky.

Yes!  I remember talking to my cousin overseas who telling me she saw it on the news over there....I described how it looked from where I was, how my patio was covered in ash.

Same here. My relos overseas saw our Blacktown fire engine (we were living there at the time) on the news and contacte us to see if we were ok.

Here's how it looked when I got home last night (not my own pic):

there was doomsday feel about it, the sun was blood red.

Just awful ๐Ÿ˜ž

Hundreds of homes are feared destroyed and the NSW premier believes it will be a miracle if no lives are lost in the most grave bushfire crisis to hit the state in a decade.

While the extent of the devastation was unclear on Thursday night, one of the worst-hit areas was Springwood, in the Blue Mountains, where up to 30 homes were known to be lost......................................

Very sad. Hoping for no loss of life.

We have been having gale force winds and rain in Tasmania. We are not far out of Hobart.

stay safe, Purps ๐Ÿ˜ž

Sadly they just confirmed a 63 year old man has died of a heart attack trying to defend his home.

Very sad.

Thanks Icy. We are fine.

Are all of our members from the area at risk ok??

I know we have a few that live in the Blue Mountains and other areas mentioned.... but not sure where...

While we think about the tragedy of loss of life, injuries and possessions.....please spare a thought to what is happpening to the native wildlife and domestic farm animals out there.

yes true.

A lady at work her husband is responsible for turning the power off in emergency situations. He said they were herding some the livestock (goats)  into the club premises where they were sheltering.

ref. your comment: '.... The extremes of weather is unbelievable. Unfortunately we can not controll nature...'

I do not believe any of this is natural or Mother Nature at work.

I firmly believe that all this has been engineered.
