"Hoichi the earless" playing the Biwa, recounting the battle of Dan no Ura (Heike versus Genji) for an audience of ghosts. From a 1964 Japanese movie, Kwaidan.

I tried to find the video from the movie for this piece but no luck so far. Anyway, this piece of music has haunted me for years.

I find it very moving, though it's not going to appeal to everyone's musical tastes.
