And of course we don't hear of those who did not have the same advantage of this mother and child, there is no political mileage in them.

They arn't elsewhere Poddy, they are here in Australia. So the what if's/maybe/probably are NO EXCUSE.

I am guessing that you enjoy football Fredie, the political kind.

The child is well cared for and so is the mother. People who are trying to turn this into a major issue have their own barrow to push at the expense of the mother/child.

That is appalling

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Regardless of where they come from or who they are there are some medical procedures that do exclude the mothers from their child.

Yes.  It happened to me in 1998.  It was necessary.  It did not occur to me to question the doctors.  The health of my baby was my number one priority.

POLITICAL MILAGE ?????

Where have you been ?

KEEPING these human beings OUT was a key election promise .

'that mother' and 'that child' are different to other mothers and new borns in YOUR eyes

The baby has a Mother and A Father too.The Father isn't permitted to see his sick newborn.

Proud of that are you Podds?

My barrow is knowing how the mum feels and knowing how essential the presence of his mum is, to the baby. The political aspect is not in my sphere............ there is no reason the mum can't be there, except the political one.

What an odd statement.

So you agree that she must be a genuine refugee fleeing for a better and safer life but all your other comments on the forums tell us you don't believe that these people should be given a safe haven in Australia.

As for the second statement, what advantage exactly does she have? She has risked her life to get here after surviving god knows what and she is now holed up with her family in a prison and could be there for 7 or so years? You thnk she should be grateful for her 'advantage'?

How long has the lady been in the detention centre?

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

Is this the first time that this kind of situation has risen?

Yes like mistreated muslim women when it is time for tralking about the koran and the buraqua.....so many political miles on that.

Or when one wants to justify an illegal war that Alexander Downer helped our country profit from with free trade.

We got rid of a dictator the US and Uk inserted into Iraq to help them deal with Iran in the early 80's.....sat back and watched him slaughter teans of thousands, made rports on his sons picking women up, **bleep** and killing them.

After caught with phoney intel about 'WMD's' the guilty come up with 'WE FREED THESE PEOPLE FROM AN EVIL DICTATOR!'....."WE ARE HERO'S!'

Mission accomplished!!!!!

Someone get Mr Downer a UN job!
