Perhaps not over reacting to situations  would benefit you.

 

After all, boys will be boys....especially with their toys.

 

Some boys are well behaved and know not to do such things. And IMO little boys should not be walking to school on their own....but that's another issue.

 

Over react? Maybe I think more level headed than you? The safety of others are my priority and will remain so....how many times have we heard "I should have said something" ? Too little too late....

 

 

Disingenuous concern is not being level headed.

Whether he walks himself to school or not, is also none of your business.

I don't think any child, boy or girl should be walking to school on their own at that age. We see prep kiddies walking alone 😞 There is before and after school care for parents to use. It's a safety issue.

My son walked to school sometimes when he was 10ish it was 4km. I wouldnt have allowed him to do that in the suburbs though, at least not for that distance. lol, he's a lazy teenager now, I can barely get him to walk down the driveway and bring the bins in.

I do think the walking school trains are a wonderful idea. keeps the children together and safe

I do hear what you are saying, twinkles, I was a very neurotic mother who was convinced my child was going to be targeted by every pedophile (and knowing where a good number lived didn't help) but looking back to my own childhood and remembering the glorious freedom of walking to school, to the shops to a friends house, dawdling along the way, picking flowers, climbing fences, I had to let my children have that same freedom. We were lucky that we had a very child friendly neighborhood, and most children walked to school and around without parents. That has changed so much since Daniel Morecombe was abducted. Now few children walk and are more at risk of being hit by one of the cars jostling for a spot to drop off. I find that so sad.
