My sentiments, exactly.

The ones who complain about ill treatment so called asylum seekers do not have the slightest idea of what a genuine refugee is.

Bonnagilla is a good place to start to get an inkling, but I doubt that the verbose plaintiffs wil take te time to go back in history and educate themselves, it would not fit their agenda

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I really can't understand where we have not treated this family as human beings? I am genuinely confused.

They are together in reasonable accommodation, the mother had 6 hours a day with the baby, admittedly the father didn't, but I imagine he was able to care for the other 2 children and provide emotional security for them while there mother was absent, just as happens in other out of area families where there is not extended family or a good support network to care for the children. Very few places will allow 2 parents AND a 4 and 7 yo to spend unlimited time in a high care unit, regardless of background.

The baby was not in a high care unit.

Given some of the sentiments here, is it any wonder that the lnp was elected with their fear/hatred/dehumanising of asylum seekers campaign.

"The treatment of an asylum seeker locked up in detention for 18 hours a day while her week-old baby was in intensive care in hospital will be the subject of a review by the Immigration Department"

I would describe that as high care polksaladallie., even if you do not.

Nup.  I've never seen a journalist anywhere near a baby nursery.  They can ramp up a story if they like.

There are several different nurseries, operating at different levels of care.  According to the original report, high care was not what this baby was receiving.

what verbose plaintiffs .What do we know for a fact that the actual people involved said?

Why the heck don't they have a right to the talk about their own experience anyway?

So many other people are without even knowing.

If as you say Bonnagilla is a good place to start  would on shore processing

and permitting asylum seekers to work be the go?

or would they be taking desperately needed jobs from Aussies then do you think?

Hi Lind, Times have changed for everyone.Once upon a time there was little or no support for many needy people in our Country...and the chances of prem babies surving was much less than it is now.

Note to self, neonatal intensive care does not offer high care.

Yes it does, but that unit was not where this baby was, according to the early reports.

I never know why people say a hurt goodbye then come back either.

The link in the OP doesn't specify anything except 'round the clock medical care' . Other reports specify neonatal intensive care.

Edit, you can take the care levelin neonatal intensive care up with Polksaladallie, not me. She questioned my use of the term 'high care'.
