we are with westnet and pay almost $80 per month.

we do 1 call or so per month on the landline, we have it just so we have a phone number.

is there a cheaper option?

no mobiles or fancy stuff involved.

See if you can get naked ADSL... it seems you don't need the landline as you only make one call a month. Westnet do naked if you are in the right area.

I am also with Westnet but I don't care that they cost more. People all around go for the cheapest but they have no end of problems. My son has a cheap bundle and now it takes him 4 hours to upload to his youtube channel. My mum is with Telstra and I don't think she has a correct bill for the past 6 months.

Westnet $60 p/m Internet + landline.  (Depending on where you live - sometimes there is a surcharge to telstra).  But they do not give phone discounts to pensioners like telstra does.

because we used the internet too much we had to upgrade with westnet.

sick of the telstra bills that's for sure.

I have recently swapped to the Telstra Max bundle

so I get

unlimited phone calls, local,  national, mobiles,

200 GB internet  then slowed

Foxtel channels

BUT

I have other charges I know nothing about on my account which I have to investigate, which have doubled my monthly account,   and a mobile phone number i know nothing about on my account, and I was not given any SIM card.

Also the Foxtel is not connected yet, partially my fault for not getting onto that, andI have to get onto that, when I get a moment.

and my favourite prepaid mobile number which I took to Telstra, was disconnected as I had not topped up the mobile credit for the required time.  I just had the phone for emergencies and did not use it often at all.

Okay, that was my error, but Telstra could have sent an email to me advising me I would lose my number if I did not take the action of topping credit up. But nothing advising me of that which is annoying

I lodged a complaint but have been told there is nothing that can be done and the number is lost.   But when I google, some people have posted the number can be brought back but you have to go high enough and find the right person.

and I did like the number as it was very easy to remember and I did not want to lose it.

also my old phone company has still been billing my CC so I have to deal with that too

I'm on TPG unlimited ADSL2 connection,   plus landline.  for $60.  The landline previously cost me $30 rental so I figure I get the internet for $30.  I think tpg have changed the plan slightly according to  #20.   I find their Help desk wonderful,  they go to no end of trouble if I have a (very rare) problem.

just looked at TPG

would we still have to rent the phone line from telstra?
