"she walked off the pier into the icy waters of the bay"...icy waters of the bay? Surely they can't be that icy? It is summer after all!

The media just make it up as they go, no need for the truth or facts, hmm sounds like or current run of prime ministers

What a dumba$$

Poetic justice.

I've lost count of all the people I have seen using their mobile phones while driving.

That's a lot more serious than someone walking off a jetty, because they could cause  injury to to other people, not only to themselves.

People walking around town bending their necks over and using their thumbs in a way just guaranteed to cause them nasty orthopaedic problems in later life if they persist.

People walking around with their phones in hand bumping into old people and little children and trampling  defenceless small animals underfoot .

People making a nuisance of themselves in crowded shops (or even lifts . . . oh, the horror) by talking in a loud voice in some inane conversation which I am forced to witness, but only the half of it.

People walking behind me in the street doing the same thing (now, I just stop and let them pass by and take their noise pollution with them)

Mobile phone use in public places has the ability to degrade the quality of life for others.

Reminds me of that old WW2 poster  . . . Is your journey conversation really necessary?

I'd buy one of those mobile phone jammers, but have you seen the fines, if caught for using one of those?

I can top that acacia... I was in hospital in ICU for the night and at around 5am a man rang someone on his mobile and talked at top for over half an hour thus waking everyone else in the room.

What amazed me is the nurses didn't take the **bleep** thing off him.   Had I not been ill I would have stormed over to him and slammed it down his throat.  Smiley Mad

lol funny but disturbing story icy

20 metres from the pier, she was very lucky to get out of that one

IN a gold coast Coffee bar there was a sign saying, We will not serve you if you are talking on your phone.

Mobile phones make people rude I have a relative and a friend who come to visit and they are always playing with their phones.

I want to take them off them 🙂

She was lucky that there were people around, seeing she couldnt swin, she is very lucky she didnt drown.

Maybe, she has learnt a lesson..........not to do social media when walking near water or crossing a road.......she could get run over.....

I confess I'm pretty attached to my phone (especially now I have a brand new iPhone 5s as of Monday) but I NEVER use it when I'm in the car or walking about.
I know people who use theirs when out at restaurants etc and then want you to look at the latest riveting F/b post they have just made or some other drivel. That drives me nuts - I refuse to look. I usually say something like nah I'll see it later when it's more convenient. They still don't get it!
