This is no immediate cure for pain, but as an anti-inflammatory, fish (or krill) oil can be very good. I take 600mg daily (in 2 doses) for an immune system disease and find it hugely beneficial in respect of joint pain - to the point that when I have to go off it prior to any surgery, I really notice the difference.

There's a lead time of maybe a couple of weeks before a benefit becomes apparent, but might be worth a try.

Best of luck,
Marina.

Sorry, the dose in my previous reply SHOUlD read 6000mg daily.

Marina.

It's 3am and I'm sitting here with my foot in a bucket again.  This is agony and those are real tears.  I would quite happily cut my foot off atm  Woman Sad

You said a bucket of hot water?

The girl in the video said ice water gave her immediate relief.

Whatever you do.....don't kick the bucket!

Did I?  I meant cold water - it's 3.30am here and I'm very tired.  It's feeling a bit better now so I'm about to go back to bed.  Hope I can sleep this time.

It's quite lonely here at this time of night.

No....I checked, you did say cold water. Although the girl did say ICE water.

Good luck getting sleep!

But I'm here! 🙂

Funny...while looking at bunion gifs I saw this on the same page...(must mean I'm a pain in the.....foot!)

Good night!

After quite a bit of googling I'm now thinking I might have gout. The sudden onset and symptoms are making me lean that way.
Some sites suggest cutting out meat, shellfish and alcohol, which is just dandy two days before Christmas 😞
Anyway, I have taken ibuprofen and panadol, and I'll continue with the cold foot baths, so hopefully I'll get some relief soon.
I don't think it's worth going to the Dr even if I was able to get in today or tomorrow?

Lurker, go easy on the panadol if you are taking ibuprofen or you will be overdosing on pain relief

My first husband had gout and he was told to go easy on the red meat, coffee, spicy foods and alcohol.  Alcohol was not a problem as he did not drink anyway but he did drink gallons of coffee.

Thanks lyndal. I am being careful. I was told by health professional that the two were okay together very occasionally and briefly. I'm not planning on having anymore now. I've got some relief already.

Yeah, those were the foods I read to avoid as well as shellfish. All the things I really enjoy. Boy am I gunna be a grumpy bum on Christmas Day lol
