@am*3 wrote:Australian bogans are proud to be Australian and bogans.. good on them. They are real. Ferals are a different species I suppose.
The article in the opening post is just a lighthearted story for a newspaper to produce at this time of the year.

Human beings are not a different species ...just because you or anyone else calls them feral.

I don't see it as a class thing either.
Bogan is in the MacQuarie (Australian) Dictionary.
As I mentioned, mostly it is the badly behaved people on the train around here that are called bogans.. maybe we should call them ferals instead.
Of course humans aren't a different species
because someone calls them ferals or snobby etc.
Homo sapiens is the scientific name for the human species.
If anyone is proud to call themselves a bogan, what is wrong with that?
I certainly wouldn't go up to anyone and call them one.

The Macquarie also offers various state-based alternatives including "bevan" and "bev-chick" (Queensland); "bog" (WA); "booner" or "charnie bum" (ACT); "chigger" (Tasmania); and "scozzer" (Victoria).
I've never heard of any of these.

Yes, I have an opinion. No you don't have to agree with it. Yes I do have a right to it.

A good indicator on Australia Day.

I guess that you would have called people at some stage of your life feral?

I am such a snob. Always have been. I can’t even bring myself to watch bogans on TV let alone do a bogan test. ![]()
