Karen, this one has a white line drawn around the blade protector so you line up the white line with the edge of the concrete and you can't hit the concrete with it.

 

It is electric so the only worry is hitting the cord. My reasoning is that if he only walks forward and trails the cord behind him, he cannot possibly run over it. 

 

We have a very long backyard with edging running down both sides and around the outside dining area as well as the front gardens and driveway, so there is a fair amount of edging to do each fortnight/week.
