I have friends that go to Bali or Thailand every year, I've always said I'm skipping 10 years of cheap overseas holidays so I can afford a few months in Europe one day.

More Aussie die in other countries, per capita. I think I read in the Jakarta post that Aussies make up 25% of tourists in Bali, around 250,000 pa...so statistically the odds are pretty low.

Bali is a fun place to visit, great for kids, cheap fares, excellent service standards, beautiful environment, friendly people...and good shopping.
.

would it be cheaper than holidays within Australia too ?

Oops just checked...it's around 700,000 per year.

And I do agree, there are better places in Australia, but visiting another country adds to the fun of a holiday IMO.
.

AUSTRALIA'S self proclaimed "most successful" Liberal pollster and strategist Mark Textor too to Twitter with a racist slur seemingly directed at Indonesian Foreign Minister.

comments such as that above from sources close to our PM

wouldn't help me as an Austraian tourist in Indonesia imo

After three visits, you get your Bogan Badge.

its a dirt cheap holiday.  I wouldn't go.

all the people saying you wouldn't go there, have you ever been there?

all those who have been, would you go again?

Who has posted that they have been there ?

I wouldn't go there myself ... I haven't done so and will never will.That's just me .

In that case Polks I a fully fledged, card carrying, badge wearing bogan!
I love Bali, I'm there at least 2-3 times a year, I can afford to travel elsewhere but I choose not to. It's only a three hour flight from Perth and there is no time difference. The political drama of recent times had no effect on Bali what so ever, the people are way to dependent on our tourist dollar to involve themselves in that!
Whilst WA is in the grip of the mining boom we have become one of most expensive places in Australia to holiday in, and how's this for airline gouging I can fly to Bali and back for less than 1/2 the price I can fly to
Port Hedland which is roughly 1/2 the distance. And don't get me started on the price of eating out!

Ifeel very sorry for the family of the two ladies that died BUT can you imagine what their saying about us in Ireland right now? Why go to Australia, the shark killing KING HIT capital of the world?

I'm not trying to justify my choices but defending my right to make them.
