so, why don't you let her sit next to you at your PC, while we discuss evolution .... I think that would be a winner.

Don't make it a date.

Go for a stroll and ask what she would like to do then do it as something spontaneous.

You may just end up strolling and talking lots.

(edit) - Oh, you know each other, then you don't need to ask as you should already know what to do.
