It is the broadcasters' duty to put to air what our elected politicians are saying.  ABC broadcasts what the government says too; if there was not much lately on the subject of the boats it might be because TA & co refuse to tell us anything. 

It is not up to the ABC to judge what is said; it is up to public to decide if they agree or not.

By the way, i just heard on the radio that towing boats back could be against international law, and  Indonesia is lodging complaint regarding the 2 boats towed back.

You can hardly call this a 'success' when you get a week that no boat made it to Christmas Island, but nearly caused international incident by towing the 2 boats into Indonesian waters.  The problem is the LNP is incapable understanding the diplomatic double speak; I would recomend to watch all the episodes of Yes minister/prime minister series.
