Today's Morgan poll says the ALP would win if an election was held today 🙂

Only because it is a Monday and most Liberal voters were at work.

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.

hahahahahahahahahaha this just gets funnier by the minute.

does the morgan poll elect leaders?  losers gloatHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Hello, everyone. This thread is getting a little heated, off topic and interpersonal.

Could we please bring the discussion back to a less hostile state?.

Thanks!”

What a splendid idea underbat, I think there will be more boats.........not sure if they will tell us though

Photobucket

how are they, no boat reported in a few days so they think its done.

besides , the public seem to have lost interest as evidenced by the polls, they want a decent government.. keeping a few prisoners in remote locations at a huge cost won't help there. education is a big loser for abbott, disability NDIS , silly ideas and broken promises by the bucketload. no, a few prisoners out of sight and out of mind is not significant enough to sway the electorate who tend to want a whole lot more.

tone has stopped the boats just like he said he would do

move on to getting rid of the carbon tax

what a great PM!!!!!!!!

Asylum trends PDF Dept of Immigration official figures

Asylum Trends Australia Annual Publication: 2011

Background

An asylum seeker is someone outside their country who is seeking international protection and who may or
may not be a refugee.

A refugee is someone who would face persecution in their home country on account of their race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.

The definition does not include people who leave their country because of generalised civil disturbance or war, famine, natural disasters or in order to seek a better life.

Australia considers the claims of asylum seekers under the provisions of the Migration Act 1958 and the
Migration Regulations 1994.

Most claimants are now considered through the Protection visa process regardless of the mode of arrival. A
non-statutory assessment refugee status determination process
has applied to irregular maritime arrivals (IMAs) who arrived prior to 24 March 2012
and who had not been interviewed by that date.

The determination of a claim for asylum is based on the specific and particular circumstances of the applicant

Country of origin information from a wide range of sources is relied upon to assist in the assessment of each
person’s circumstances and claims.

Where a person is found to be a refugee, health, character and security checks are required before a visa may be granted.

If you want to see how the bulk of the Burmese (southern and Central Asia) arrived then check the table below  they are the largest NON IMA arrivals ie they arrived by plane... you need to compare apples with apples... not oranges
