Prince Charles visited a flood ravaged part of England and he commented " A jolly good disaster". Does he ever take his foot out of his mouth ? He did then donate 50 thousand pounds to the flood relief but the comment was stupid and not helpfjul for those suffering.

His Royal Highness was handed a letter outlining the issues facing Somerset by a farmer as soon as he left his royal vehicle in Stoke St Gregory on Tuesday lunchtime.

"I've now got an idea how awful it is," he added.

 

Earlier in the day Prince Charles pledged £50,000 to the clear-up operation - a sum that will be matched by the Duke of Westminster.

 

Jolly good chaps, I would say, the Prince & the Duke.

Having lived through two floods and a tornado in the last three years I have no objection to what he said. 

 

We would call ours a bloody good flood in comparison to what he said. 

 

I am sure nothing he said was said in malice.

It is actually his father, Prince Philip, who is known for dropping clangers (not Charles).

You got the wrong end of the stick there, those suffering were happy Prince Charles came on a visit as it brought national attention to their plight as not much was happening for them before that.

 

 

Farmer Ray Adlam met Prince Charles during his visit and afterwards told Sky News: "I think something will happen, the publicity of him coming down here will help.

"Him coming makes it more important in the national eye, and it is a national problem.

"The pressure his presence puts on people to sort this will be a very great help."

I can only imagine your reaction if Julia Gillard had visited and said anything of the sort   😄

 

What was it about JG not being welcome to come and gawk at the floods?

What were you going to tell her if she did?

She did visit.. and I did say that even though I hated her policies it was not a time to go there and protest as there were people that were so happy to see her and they really felt like they were being "heard". Personally I don't think she really cared... Anna Bligh did a much better job. 

 

It is a very lonely time when your house is flooded and you are living in emergency shelters that are just halls with camp beds.
