The mother seems to have said quite a lot about this already and has a fairly clear reasoning about it. The father was mentally unstable according to her.

If the bullet mised his legs it culd have hit some other kid or parent.

It's a wonder some other parent didn't attack him with a cricket bat.

Police are taught that if they unholster their weapon, they better be prepared to use it and aim for the largest target.

No the mother saw her son die, as did his siblings. Those siblings also saw their father shot. There is nothing in that to console anyone. We now have children that will never understand why their father killed their brother.....but they also have visions of their father being shot and then dying.

 

When my father died, I wanted justice. I did not want the same fate for the person responsible.

Yes, I realize that.  I think it's better they hit the scum than risk hitting another if the bullet went between his legs.

We were told his siblings were there. Maybe they weren't? I wasn't there, were you?

I just read the latest article on it............siblings were not mentioned. Other children that were at the cricket ground with their parents were mentioned, but no siblings of the boy involved.

Before you ask TS..........no, I was not there, I read it in the media.

Yeah freaki, now you mention that, I read something similar, think it was this morning.

I think the police had little choice but to shoot.

But from the sounds of things, the mother might have preferred answers. Her comment to the media today was "Ms Batty said there was no way to understand why he killed their son." From the sounds of things, the boy was the love of his life.

I should also point out that the man was mentally ill. So I'm not sure that the display of hate is appropriate. Unfortunately, people like that aren't often responsible for their actions.
