and this is to do with gender???    I think it is more the fact that they are not married and there is a perceived instability and a temporary nature in relationships not seal by marriage...      personally I don't think that.. I think marriage is overrated .... and a way to trap women into subservient relationships..    but that is just my cynical opinion...
