Unfortunately, coming from "poor stock"  and definitely no money for a camera or developing, I don't have photos, but some of the stories my nana told me, I have passed on to my daughter (simply because she sat still long enough to tell).

 

I've done my bit in telling her.  Now it's up to her to pass on to her nieces.  But one day, I intend to put snippets of info in writing.

Deb, I am not sure about that, I know of 2 males that have traced their heritage back, but I suppose it is more women that do it. As it is more mums that take the photos.

I inherited all my photos of the oldies when they have died or when other family members have died. I do scrapbooking mainly for my grandkids, so that when they are older, they can look back on their ancesters and see who is who. I still have to go through my books and do the dates on some pages.

I am doing a book for each of my grandchildren too, so they can see what they were like when they were younger & also keep for their own kids.

My mother chucked alot of photos of me when I was little out, God only knows why........but through my cousins and other rellies, have got alot now.

I am totally addicted to scrapbookingm I would want to be, with all the books I have on the go.

My Dad took a lot of slides which my sister in NZ has. Would be good to see those again and get some copied. Quite a few years ago he got photos copied of his first day at school, my first day at school etc (which was good).. he had an interest in family and district history.

My own family, we got a video camera when our youngest was a baby and I think we used that on a lot of occasions in preference to just taking photos. They are on VCR and need to be transferred to DVD.

My grandparents on their 65th wedding anniv. they were married in 1909..........this is a cutting out of local newspaper, Grandma was bed ridden having suffered a stroke yrs. before

and this is where grandpa & grandma Cochrane lived, before they moved to Bendigo.    This is the house and it is still standing it is at Barrabool Hills, near Geelong.

I have some wall paper from the house when my grandparents lived there,

This handsome man (LOL) & lady are Robert & Alice Cochrane.............my grandfather's parents.

A little jug and a cup, it did have a saucer, but it must have got broken at some  time. My father's mother gave them to me, when I was about 7yrs old.

She passed away a couple of yrs. later from lung cancer, she was Austrian, she and my grandpa adopted dad, when he was a baby. From what I remember of her, she was a wonderful woman.

The cochrane family are all dead, anyone can look on the ancester sites and see them.

The Hook family are all dead.

My cousin lives in Victoria, and I didnt give his last name.

Any one looking for the name Ferris, wont get far either, they are all deceased.
