Mixed company?  What sort of mixed company?

The elderly and the young?  Maybe the very old, like those in their 80s or 90s would see it that way.  I think most people would mind their language with the elderly unless they know it wouldn't offend.

Sheesh...mixed company means a mix of young and old, male and female

That's why I asked. The young and old I understand. It's so long since I heard anyone refer to men and women as mixed company in terms of language I didn't think that could be what you meant.   😄

Most people know when it's appropriate to use Fwords and when it's not.

Obviously Cate doesn't...

Random swearing is nothing to judge a person by.

I'm not judging her, I'm saying it was an uncouth thing to say which was totally at odds with the glamour of the evening and simply reinforces the Aus bogan stereotype.

Nasty name calling personal attacks on people are way more offensive, imo.

Agreed, but that is not the topic of this discussion, nor has it occurred here.

I watched the clip and I don't think it was so uncouth considering it was the end of a long night.

I didn't say or imply that nasty name calling had gone on in this thread.  I just added a comment in relation to the Fword that was the topic of the discussion.  Sorry if that offends you. It wasn't intended that way.

wow, she is human!!!! unbelievable, who would have thought she is not perfect? Its not like she went and did a nuddie run through a convent,

I dont think the whole world think less of Aussie women 😄

who really cares what she said? She shouldnt be on a pedestal anyway and young impressionable people already know those words 😄

Icy, my comment was not a twisted personal attack on you in any way.

I hope you didn't take it that way.

One swear word out the back..not as if she let go a whole strung of them or was abusing someone.

I doubt it will do her career any harm. For most Americans Australia isn't even on their radar (a lot confuse it with Austria). They probably don't even know what a Aust yobbo/ bogan persona is.

relax, it's cool. I tend not to indulge in name calling and personal attacks (anymore) so I didn't read too much into your comment.

A pathetic indirect attack on you icy. Some like to twist things to suit their own agenda. You didnt deserve that.

A indirect attack on you icy

Thanks Faun 🙂

the 44-year-old thesp dropped an F-bomb that was caught live on CNN while she was fielding questions from the press backstage.

The excitement of being the first Australian to  win  a Best Actress Oscar & to be the only Australian to win two Oscars, must have got away with her.

Probably was all the excitement but no she isn't the first Australian to win a Best Actress Oscar, Nicole Kidman has one as well for the film the Hours, Cate is just the first Australian to win two, one for best supporting and one for best (lead).

It's just a word anyway which is kind of sad these days but still just a word I don't see it badly or badly of her either I think it was just the excitement of the moment.
