there was one car park at the church i mentioned for the priest, so yes the streets were full all around there as well. i guess a lot of the places of worship have that in common.

i think it a myth , the synagogues i have seen are fairly lavish. there is one in this area and it has virtually no congregation from what i can see. the old one in the city in Adelaide was sold and coverted into a nightclub 20 years ago.

I remember a few years ago the LDS built a temple in Adelaide.
No expense spared, Italian marble, gold Gabriel adorning the roof, the whole shebang.
Lots of gates, security and big fences, I guess they don't want the hoi-polloi (well non-LDS folk) to bother them.
They had a few open days, got a huge attendance (there's not much happening in Adelaide), after that I think it's pretty much shut to non-believers.

maybe the builder is messing them around , an orthodox church in Melbournes outskirts used to look pretty spartan in besser brick , but looks better now that the render is on. it did take at least 10 or 15 years, maybe they were waiting on donations to the building fund ? the local Anglican cathedral is always fundraising to keep the slate roof from falling off and there is always masonry being repaired too. the fundraising never stops.

i've managed to get in for a look around at one, they had a massive indoor baptisimal pool and heaps of fabric everywhere hanging curtain style . it was meant to be a representation of heaven i think.
