i wouldnt have a clue if there is a mosque in my town or not, the only objection i would have is if they built it next door to me - i have lived beside 2 churches and never wish to live near any again.

noisy dang worshippers interfering with my sunday morning sleep ins  grrr.

an orthodox church at easter makes a bit of a mess, i lived a few doors away and the entire street was covered in red eggshells

good photo opportunity, would look good, maybe enter in the photo comp. Woman Happy

there was one car park at the church i mentioned for the priest, so yes the streets were full all around there as well. i guess a lot of the places of worship have that in common.

the locals used to complain a bit boris, and most of them were orthodox. Smiley Happy

the Jews built a cinagog???spelling?  in a outer Perth suburb they used all used materials. they have never got around to rendering the outside. it looks horrible.

is this where the Jews being tight comes from?

i think it a myth , the synagogues i have seen are fairly lavish. there is one in this area and it has virtually no congregation from what i can see. the old one in the city in Adelaide was sold and coverted into a nightclub 20 years ago.

look how close my spelling was...no wonder spell check spat it at meSmiley LOL

this building is horrid

I remember a few years ago the LDS built a temple in Adelaide.

No expense spared, Italian marble, gold Gabriel adorning the roof, the whole shebang.

Lots of gates, security and big fences, I guess they don't want the hoi-polloi (well non-LDS folk) to bother them.

They had a few open days, got a huge attendance (there's not much happening in Adelaide), after that I think it's pretty much shut to non-believers.

Sort of reminds me of the opening of a temple in Adelaide of a different kind - back in 2006 I think - there were thousands there, traffic jams, media everywhere, threw Adelaide into a right tizz.

It was a Temple of vast proportions, a temple to Consumerism known as "Ikea"

maybe the builder is messing them around ,  an orthodox church in Melbournes outskirts used to look pretty spartan in besser brick , but looks better now that the render is on.  it did take at least 10 or 15 years, maybe they were waiting on donations to the building fund ? the local Anglican cathedral is always fundraising to keep the slate roof from falling off and there is always masonry being repaired too. the fundraising never stops.

i've managed to get in for a look around at one, they had a massive indoor baptisimal pool and heaps of fabric everywhere hanging curtain style . it was meant to be a representation of heaven i think.
