I type how I speak, and my speech is shocking, but that's how it is. I do say coz, and innit and ifn  and stuff. I do say yep, and nup and sittin' and oh hey.

After nearly 20 years living out west my  speech pattern isn't that dissimilar to lobs. My family find it amusing when OH and I visit, and invite their mates around just to listen to OH talk in his home town vernacular. He says munger (ear) doughy (slow) moonay (don't ask, it's not a good word) ol' mate (anyone from the bloke next door to the shop owner down the street, or the news reader on the radio)

If I wish, I can slow down, think about what I am trying to communicate, and structure my sentences reasonably well. (It is getting harder with each passing year) But mostly I don't bother, because what you see is what you get.

I don't understand the point, the op read to me just like an op from a person in Australia, any tolerant person. I know they are in Australia because it says so in the op, as for the manipulation of the languageWoman Surprised Do I post as I speak,  - mmmmm, well not really because i talk really fast and I type really slow and I swear a lot (appropriately of course).

I have no idea if I post how I speak...................... I probably post more than I speak......................I don't analyse anyone else's posting pattern. However, I can understand that someone with a background in linguistics might.

I agree Az .

That and people who are writers or at least aware of creative writing skills perhaps...they would most likely be the readers who do notice these things .

Not a problem imo ..(just thinking that I don't say "imo" in RL)

A writer may be aware that the voice of the narration should be consistent with the character’s cultural, social, educational and regional background. The voice in writing portrays those things to a reader.

Readers will observe what they read I suppose ...that's just the purpose of writing .

I know that people observe mine

We all know her posting style just put up with her ....was once a suggestion made to those who like to observe and observe and comment consistantly on my posting style .

I think that if I ever tried to have another id to post with to avoid such comments...I'd have to create a fake persona and a posting style to match. I couldn't do that just to please those who don't wish to be pleased

oh look, another hijack.

oh come on Pepe,

I read this thread and I can clearly see where this thread was hijacked ...much ealier than Buzz's post and those by others in relation to that post Woman LOL

not supposed to notice that perhaps ...

I would love to have a nearby mosque. The call to prayer is amongst my favourite "music", just absolutely love it.

I have a good friend who is a refugee and runs a successful Moroccan arts business...when I go visit his shop he always plays call to prayer CDs lol...he told me the proper name but I forget it.
