Hello, everyone. This discussion is getting a little heated. Could we please communicate with a more civil tone. Thanks!

After nearly 20 years living out west my speech pattern isn't that dissimilar to lobs. My family find it amusing when OH and I visit, and invite their mates around just to listen to OH talk in his home town vernacular. He says munger (ear) doughy (slow) moonay (don't ask, it's not a good word) ol' mate (anyone from the bloke next door to the shop owner down the street, or the news reader on the radio)
If I wish, I can slow down, think about what I am trying to communicate, and structure my sentences reasonably well. (It is getting harder with each passing year) But mostly I don't bother, because what you see is what you get.
You have just almost perfectly demonstrated that you do not in fact write/type the same way you speak. ![]()

Yeah. Get's weird when they switch registers paragraph by paragraph though.
When a writer does that It takes away from the authentic voice they are attempting to portray.
I think if a writer wants to portray a certain character then they need to use a consistent register.
