This is starting out as a non political thread, try to keep it that way please.
What are your views on the unrest in The Crimea?
Do you think it may have an impact on Australia?
Do you know what the unrest is about?

It is like starting a thread about knitting and asking people not to talk about knitting
You can't be serious.

I was referring to local politics that seem to permeate 90% of all threads

They shouldn't eat such a large meal before going to bed.:-)
We and others should button up and wait to see what happens after the referendum.
There appears to be support for being part of Russa again.

So why did you ask how it may affect Australia?
You cannot do that without discussing politics.

the result is self evident. the russians maintain control and popular support in crimea, the us and others enact some ineffective sanctions to save face on the home front mostly. some hard feelings and back to business as usual.

In terms of Australia, the impact will be felt only if international financial markets are destabilised, or the Ukraine pushes for sanctions that mean business against Russia, or shuts off the gas tap.
Personally, it has affected me already, not financially, but emotionally and practically.
