It could be any of the various forms of depression but can also be a mental Illness and in cases its simply the attention seeking type.... Looking for the OOHH you poor thing type of replies.
If someone is saying this to you and you want a better answer on here you will need to provide some more info and background as based on your post it could be anyone of the above 3
🙂 (Or they could just be in a room with no lights 🙂 )

I wouldn't dismiss this as just being down. Keep an eye on them for any odd behaviour and I would see if they wanted to talk about it.
The people I know with depression, on bad days they will say they just need some rest, are having a bad day etc....when someone tells me they are in a dark place, it means to me that they are "really" struggling.

I would like to help her if I could find out what to do.
She at time stresses out and is stressing the people around her out as well.

Have a look here http://www.beyondblue.org.au/
and seek professional help or even talk to your family doctor about what you can do.
You also state SHE... are we taking a teenager or adult 20's or 40-50+ etc..
More information is required but the best answer is get professional help......

Be there to just listen.
If you get that feeling that she is going to do something stupid, take away anything that she can use, stay by her and call for help.

That may be another way of asking for help.
