Did you know people who hate this thread still choose to read it? Isn't that the oddest thing.

Deb I have a flower garden...I'm not really a flower growing person, and my flower garden hasn't actually got any flowers in it. Just two dead gladioli. Anyway, my plan is to go to the hippie nursery every month and buy a perennial that is in flower that month...,and after a year, I should have a real flower garden 🙂

I need perennials so I don't have to plant more every year...flowers are a big waste of veggie growing space and time IMO.

I've got the soil ready and a big bale of mulch...just no flowers.

Yep! But then I find a few things to be odd lol

We have a friend ( a muso) who rents a flat with a little garden out the side. A few weeks ago we went there for dinner. & his secret garden is like a fairy garden. He buys those 50cent plants on the trolleys @ Bunnings and takes great delight in bringing them back to life, he's discovered a new passion & it looks great

I am not one for too much gardening..........and since we had to start paying for our water usage we decided to go with succulents.

Sowe got some cuttings from the local Community Centre..............and they started off rather small...........and then went crazy.

The first picture is my cutting growing in the planter box (it is about 10cms all up)..........and the second one is it 12 months later in the garden........................it is huge now......(about 50cm each flower)

I ended up going to both Mitre 10 and Bunnings.  Mitre 10 only had very poor specimens of what I wanted so I had to do a complete reverse and head off in the other direction.

I wanted a decent looking frangipini with branches, which I did find but it's still quite small.  I would have liked a more established looking one but I seem to be shopping out of season for the plants I want.

I couldn't even get more agapanthus.  I just want a no fuss, no mess, no pruning/spraying/weeding type garden bed.  Can it happen?

Oh, I forgot.  Ahoy me hearties 😄

I'm not a big cacti fan Flashie, but I do like those ones in your pic, whatever they're called

They are quite pretty ones aren't they?  I'm not a major fan but those look nice.  I do have some succulents out the back where it is way too hot for most plants.  I can't remember the real name but it is called Jade I think.  I got them from cuttings and they have grown so quickly and don't need looking after.

Joono

Is that the one that also gets called Happy plant" or "money plant" I had some of that once, I think it's supposed to bring you good luck ( the jade plant)

They grow like plague plants, Flashie. I have some in front of my house and I stomp on them, chop them up with a shovel, rip them out...but they keep growing.

I really only like plants that "do stuff".

Haul the anchor, Joono 😄

That's the one Deb.

This is the one.  Not mine.

My mum used to do that, Deb....buy the "bloomers" at the nursery and transform the garden. It looked so pretty.
